The FRCS Mentor is a non-profit network of Orthopaedic Surgeons who are enthusiastic about surgical education. We aim to facilitate surgical knowledge exchange by establishing successful mentorship to orthopaedic candidates preparing for their exit FRCS Orth Exams. Ultimately, this would improve patients' care all over the globe.
Our work model is a multi-facet platform, covering all aspects of FRCS and orthopaedics in general, through daily discussions, online and face to face mentorship, weekly webinars, weekly viva session, in addition to a library of lecture videos, summary notes, and link to important resources and recommended courses.
Our lectures are provided by our expert mentors in addition to imminent guest speakers and are levelled to help the candidate pass the exam.
Our subscription has increased steadily and significantly since we started 2-3 years ago, and we have now actively hundreds of members from all over the world and in different stages of their careers.
Our mentors have dedicated consultant surgeons and those chosen from successful candidates who have recently cleared the exam, and who have a passion for teaching and sharing of knowledge. They are dedicated to this project and believe fully in its ethos of “teaching is an act of charity”, and will not hesitate to provide the appropriate advice or answer questions to help their colleagues.
Additionally, we also provide a comprehensive Concise Orthopaedic Notes, written and developed by our faculty specifically aimed at exam candidates.
These are provided electronically at no cost. A weekly webinar is conducted with a lecture followed by viva practice sessions with our selected panel of educational and clinical mentors' team. Feedback is encouraged from both sides. The lectures are recorded and shared with a wider audience via our media channels and our videos have been viewed hundreds of thousands of times.
Our lectures are supported by the royal college of surgeons of Edinburgh, who provide CPD points for these, and since 2020, we have proudly partnered with Orthopaedic Research UK, that is a charitable organisation funding high-quality research and education into musculoskeletal science. We are in collaboration with many educational institutes to share our expertise and knowledge in different courses conducted all over the UK and overseas. We keep adding to our materials and we are actively looking to improve the methods and techniques of delivering our teaching, in addition to adding more platforms to cover all aspects of the exam.
We are a non-profit network of dedicated surgeons; our mission is to facilitate surgical knowledge exchange by establishing successful mentorship to orthopaedic candidates preparing for their exit FRCS Exams.
We aim to deliver and promote learning through different platforms to national and international candidates undertaking the Fellowship examination and preparing for a career as a Consultant of Trauma and Orthopaedics enabling excellence in the delivery of surgical practice and knowledge.
